Objective and Outcome:

Procedures
Opening
Lesson
●
Begin
by explaining to the students that today we will be learning to sound out their
names and match picture/words/letter with familiar sounds they learned from
their name
●
Ask
the students who can spell their name
●
See
how many students raise their hands
●
Pick a
student who raised their hands and sound out their name
●
Then
sound out the student's name, Example: “Sara”
●
Watch
me sound it out: “Ssss” “Aaaa” “rrrr”
“aaaa”
●
Then
do it together as a class
●
Then
let the students do it own their own all together
●
Repeat
with at least two or more students or until everyone can sound out the names
Students
Lesson (alone)
●
Students
will then create on a construction paper their names and fold the paper into
squares, enough for each letter of their name or draw lines on their poster
board until they have enough boxes for their name
●
Then
they will paste a picture that has the same letter as the letter in the box
●
Explain
to students the process of folding the construction paper to have the top of
the paper be the long side then fold into enough squares for their name
●
Students
then will put in each square the letter of their name until it is spelled out
for example: SARA, Square #1 will be “S”, Square #2 “A”, Square #3 “R”, Square
#4 “A”
●
Students
then will put a picture with the letter for example: “S” will have a picture of
“SALT” or “Sun” “Shoe” etc. they must have the same first letter and will learn
to sound it out and then report until finished with all the letters
Closing
●
Students
will then present their project to the class
●
They
will sound out their name
●
Then
they will say the letter of the box
●
Then
say the name of the word in the picture
●
Lastly
they will sound out each picture with the letter it starts with
What they should learn at the end
●
By the
end of the assignment they should be able to sound out their names
●
Be
able to sound out other things associated with those letter
●
Understand
their classmates and how they sound out their names
●
Be
able to sound out most of the letter said in the classroom
