Begin by explaining to the students that today we will be learning to sound out their names and match picture/words/letter with familiar sounds they learned from their name
Ask the students who can spell their name
See how many students raise their hands
Pick a student who raised their hands and sound out their name
Then sound out the student's name, Example: “Sara”
Watch me sound it out: “Ssss”  “Aaaa” “rrrr” “aaaa”
Then do it together as a class
Then let the students do it own their own all together
Repeat with at least two or more students or until everyone can sound out the names
            Students Lesson (alone)
Students will then create on a construction paper their names and fold the paper into squares, enough for each letter of their name or draw lines on their poster board until they have enough boxes for their name
Then they will paste a picture that has the same letter as the letter in the box
Explain to students the process of folding the construction paper to have the top of the paper be the long side then fold into enough squares for their name
Students then will put in each square the letter of their name until it is spelled out for example: SARA, Square #1 will be “S”, Square #2 “A”, Square #3 “R”, Square #4 “A”
Students then will put a picture with the letter for example: “S” will have a picture of “SALT” or “Sun” “Shoe” etc. they must have the same first letter and will learn to sound it out and then report until finished with all the letters
            Closing
Students will then present their project to the class
They will sound out their name
Then they will say the letter of the box
Then say the name of the word in the picture
