support the thesis.

Model:
-
Using
a PowerPoint, I will compare and contrast evidence that accurately supports a
theme and evidence that is taken out of context. Using the projector, I will
show students sample introductory paragraphs and together we will discuss which
one works and identify general, specific sentences. Using the rubric provided
the students and I will work together to determine what should be included in
their own introductions.
Check for
Understanding:
-
At
this point I will use a formative assessment technique in which students will
rate their understanding on a scale of one through five. Depending on what I
see I will either move forward or repeat myself.
Independent
Practice:
The learner will
now work independently to achieve the objectives of the day, I will walk around
and provide feedback and further assistance.
Closure:
I will ask the students if they achieved todays
goal and will have them turn in their rough draft introduction paragraphs. I
will review them, provide feedback and hand them back for tomorrow's class.
